ROCKINGHAM COUNTY

Description: Guitar

I'm driving down to Rockingham County
Where the Shenandoah winds between the chamomile hills
And December sun shines down through the silhouette trees
And Virginia knows what a beauty she is

It's a poet's dream in Rockingham County
There's a picture book round every bend
I got a hymn a-humming in my wheels
I got a welcome ease inside my head

Didn't I used to wanna set the world straight
Or wrestle the demons from inside
Or sign a signature to something great
But lately I'm just in it for the ride

My best friend lives in Rockingham County
We know each other inside and out
And I told her lately I've been feeling well
And when she sees me she'll say
"You know, you might be right this once"

Didn't I used to wanna set the world straight
Or wrestle the demons from inside
Or sign a signature to something great
But lately I'm just in it for the ride

Lately I'm just in it for the ride

I'm rolling into Rockingham County
I'm singing gospel with the radio
Praises be to the Almighty and the Holy Three
And blessed those who travel light tonight like me

Didn't I used to wanna set the world straight
Or wrestle the demons from inside
Or sign a signature to something great
But lately I'm just in it, lately I'm just in it
I'm not here to wait
