AU NATURELLE
Copyright © Susan Werner
Description: Guitar

Already the grey is creeping in
Creeping in along my hairline now and much to my chagrin
More is on the way
But that's okay
'Cos there isn't too much I can do about it anyway

But then again there is
I'll buy a bottle of blonde
I'll pour it up over my hair and it works like a magic wand
Alakazam
The old lady is gone
Replaced by a young Miss Clairol with an off-the-shoulder on

Yeah I can do that to myself
Nobody'll know
Not if it's done well
But that's not me, that's somebody else
It takes guts to go
Au naturelle

Already the grey, already the chin
Yes my chin has started sinking and it don't know how to swim
Yeah that's alright
Yeah that's okay
'Cos there isn't too much I can do about it anyway

But then again there is
It's called the knife
Lay yourself down on the table, get a brand new lease on life
Look twenty-one when you're forty-nine
And even eighteen year old checkout boys will check you out in line

Yeah I can do that to myself
Nobody'll know
Not if it's done well
But that's not me, that's somebody else
It takes guts to go
Au naturelle
That's right

Oh already the grey, already the chin
Yes I'm just like the Titanic and the captain just dove in
But that's alright
Yeah that's okay
'Cos there isn't too much
Yes there is and that's enough of that

'Cos here's the truth
I got no spine
I'll be cavin' in like crazy just a few years down the line
That will be me underneath the blade
With my hair if you look carefully in an artificial shade

Yeah I'm gonna do that to myself
And nobody'll know
It'll be done well
'Cos me I'm weak like everyone else
And it takes real guts to go
Au naturelle

No I'm gonna go au naturelle
Yes I am
No I'm too weak to go au naturelle
Oh hell I really don't know yet
Ask me in five years
Ask me next week
Ask me tomorrow morning
